The BMW Z4 GT3 race car is one serious piece of kit, it has a fixed-roof and is fully race-ready. Instead of the straight six found in the production model, the Z4 GT3 is powered by a 480-horsepower 4.0-litre V8 matched up with a six-speed sequential gearbox. Designed and engineered entirely as a track machine – the Z4 means business and is priced accordingly at around $400,000 USD. Once you’ve ponied up the money the Z4 is then shipped to you… in pieces.
BMW ships the car out in boxes and despite the price tag it’s up to the proud new owner to piece it all together. Recently a Swedish racing crew named Team West Coast Racing, did just that. The entire build took them 600 hours and they kept a camera rolling all along. A time-lapse video captures the action as bare chassis slowly becomes a complete race car.
