America installs first public quick-charge electricity station (+video)

America’s first public quick-charge electricity station has been completed and has just been opened. It’s located in the parking garage of the World Trade Center building in downtown Portland. The ground-breaking public charging system is capable of taking most all electric vehicles from zero to 80 percent charge in just 20 to 30 minutes.

The grand opening was lead by Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski, who you can see in the video below attaching the charging cable to the Nissan Leaf EV. According to reports, use of the quick-charge station is completely free, but entry into the public parking garage will set you back three dollars U.S.

When will NZ get its first electricity station? Not for some time, but till then check out the video below to see what it’s all about.
