March 15th, 2011 by Darren Cottingham

The first sketch shot of the future generation 2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class has just been leaked out over the web. This sketch represents the first chance to see the major design changes in Merc’s next-gen A Class, before its official debut at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show. The new A-Class is expected to be revealed next month and will likely go on sale before the end of 2011.

The 2012 Mercedes A-Class seems to borrow quite a few styling elements from the F800 concept, revealed in February 2010 (read news). The new A Class will be given a more dynamic and fluid exterior design, that will place it much closer to a hatchback body style. Initial expectations are that the upcoming A-Class will go on sale with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. An AMG version is not expected at first, but never rule one out of showing up later especially with this type of sports styling. 2011 Ford Territory – first teaser image revealed

December 15th, 2010 by Darren Cottingham

Ford Australia has given blue oval fans a treat today with the first teaser image of the new-look 2011 Territory. Due out in around six month’s time the new Territory is set to breath life back into the well aged name plate.

First launched back in 2004 the current Territory is based on the underpinnings of the Falcon sedan and has only received subtle updates throughout its long production life. Now Ford Australia has committed to the Territory until at least 2016.

The new 2011 Territory will continue to make use of the Falcon platform but will use updated global styling inside and out, plus a number of new technologies, including the introduction of turbo-diesel power.

“The Ford Territory set a new benchmark when it was first released and it is set to achieve this again — and more,” said Bob Graziano, President and CEO of Ford Australia. “This is an exceptional SUV. It wears an exciting new look and will boast an extensive list of technical highlights. The Ford Australia team is taking the Territory to an all-new level of performance, refinement and quality, and customers will definitely experience these advancements when they drive it.”

Ford hasn’t released official details on powertrain options for the new Territory but the company had previously announced that the updated Territory would benefit from the introduction of the Ford and Peugeot-Citroen PSA co-developed 2.7-litre V6 turbo diesel motor. It’s also likely that Ford will make use of its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine in this application, as the new powerplant has already been confirmed for the Australian market Falcon. December 15th, 2010 by Darren Cottingham

Honda has just released a preview illustration of its next generation Honda Civic.

The Civic has been a long serving model for the Japanese carmaker and is now entering it’s ninth generation. The new model is set to be unveiled in Detroit at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in concept form. The initial design sketch shows off a sleek and aerodynamic profile that has a strong resemblance to the Honda CR-Z. The sketch shows a sporty three-door hatchback, but prototypes of the Civic sedan version have already been spotted in spy photos.

No announcement has been made on engine options and if any of them will offer any real performance. It is expected that the Civic range will receive at least one new petrol engine and one diesel unit. A dual-clutch transmission is also a possibility, but nothing has been made official so far.

The production version of the new Civic should go on sale in NZ late next year.
