Ram range boosted by 1500 Mossy Oak hunting edition

Ram continues to expand its range of brawny pickup trucks with more special editions and extra models over in the States.

Next year the popular Power Wagon line will be expanded with the addition of ST and Laramie trim levels. ST guise is a no frills specification designed for companies and government agencies that need a rugged truck without too many luxuries.

The Laramie trim rolls includes leather seats, a premium audio system and plenty of wood-grain in the cabin. The exterior of the truck is treated to body-color fender flairs and chrome mirrors and bumpers.

Ram also plans to roll out a 1500 Mossy Oak Edition (pictured). Those readers into hunting may recognise the Mossy Oak brand name as one of the leading companies in the camouflage industry. This new addition will will boast a tub liner and a tail gate wrapped in the Mossy Oak Breakup Infinity camo pattern. In the cabin the treatment continues with door panels finished in camo, and the Mossy Oak logo embroidered on the seat headrests. With all that camo trim the only risk is that your truck will get shot by accident. The Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition will cost USD $39,910 ($49,800 NZ). 2012 Toyota Yaris launches into NZ market

Toyota has launched the all new Yaris hatchback into the NZ market, with reworked styling, improved performance and new equipment.

Toyota New Zealand’s Neeraj Lala said “This is an exciting time for Toyota – the launch of our best ever small car. Following on from the success of the current Yaris, and the Echo before it, we’re offering New Zealander’s the best combination of design and value in a city-sized package.”

“Small vehicles make up around 13 per cent of the New Zealand new vehicle market, attracting cost-conscious buyers and those moving away from larger vehicles. We’re confident that this new Yaris will appeal to a broader range of drivers with its blend of value for money features and Toyota’s innovative packaging.”

BMW announces 1-Series pricing and specs for NZ

The all-new BMW 1 Series is set to make waves in the New Zealand luxury compact market when it goes on sale from October 21.

BMW’s newest hatchback comes packing a new eight-speed automatic transmission as standard – the only model in the segment to do so. There are new engines with more power and improved efficiency figures and a fresh range of standard and optional features.

With pricing officially announced the 116i manual is the entry point and features an entirely new 1.6 litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, it will start from $46,600. With the automatic transmission it’s priced at $49,700.

The 116i uses a new-generation turbo engine that accelerates the hatch from zero to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds – compared to 9.4 seconds for the previous 118i.  Torque output is also up from 180Nm to 220Nm while carbon emissions are down from 174g/km to 132g/km. Ford NZ announces range and pricing for new 2012 Ford Ranger ute

Ford New Zealand has just announced the available range and pricing for the all-new 2012 Ford Ranger ute.

Using a more powerful diesel engine the new Ranger features fresh brawny styling and a broad range of equipment. It will be available in 2WD and 4WD forms with three cab variants – Single Cab, Super Cab and Double Cab. There are three trim levels on offer, the entry spec XL, mid-range XLT and top-dog Wildtrack model. The Ranger is available in a wide range of configurations and pricing varies from $34,690 for the base model manual 2WD model all the way to $66,290 for the Wildtrack 4WD double cab with 6-speed automatic transmission.

2012 Ford Focus – NZ pricing announced

Ford NZ has just released the recommended retail pricing for the all-new 2012 Focus. The first variants of the all-new Ford Focus arrive at dealers in late October the Focus wagon arrives in March 2012 and the Focus ST hot hatch is due in the second half of 2012.

The new Focus is a key model in the Ford range and has been expanded to include a new high-series Titanium variant, offering a more luxury-focused trim level.

“The all-new Focus raises the bar for expressive design, affordable innovation, superior quality, responsive performance and exceptional fuel economy,” said Chris Masterson, Marketing Manager, Ford New Zealand.

Holden NZ announces new features and pricing for Cruze range

Holden NZ is preparing to add the hatch version of its popular Cruze to the model range and has announced updated pricing and features for both hatch and sedan variants.

Holden will introduce Bluetooth as standard for all models of the Australian-built Cruze sedan and hatch broadening the vehicle’s appeal.

The integrated feature, will now be standard as part of the 2012 Cruze, on sale from early next year. Holden General Manager of Marketing, Matt Woodley, said the addition of the technology was in response to consumer demand.

“I think it’s clear that Bluetooth has become an increasingly important feature for many motorists so it made sense to make it standard on Holden’s best-selling small passenger car,” said Woodley. “Bluetooth is now standard across a number of Holden’s most popular carlines including Commodore, the all-new Barina and now we are happy to announce, Cruze.”

Two new colours will be introduced in the model upgrade and will be available on all Commodore and Cruze. Perfect Blue, a bright solid blue based on Peter Brock’s Formula Blue, will replace Voodoo, and Chlorophyll, a metallic teal, will replace Poison Ivy. NZ-bound Range Rover Evoque previewed in Auckland

The new Range Rover Evoque isn’t due to go on sale in NZ till November but was given a sneak preview at an Auckland event last night. Land Rover customers and interested parties checked out the striking design of the new SUV at Archibald and Shorter Roverland in Greenlane.

When the compact luxury off-roader arrives in NZ it will be available with a choice of three engines, two body styles, three design themes and a range of options and accessories. The body shapes are a five-door and 2-door coupe with the design themes being Pure, Dynamic and Prestige. Standard features will include push button start, electric park brake, rear parking aid, colour TFT information screen, 6/4 way adjustable electric seats. Optional equipment include three contrasting roof treatments, seven alloy wheel designs, 16 contrasting interiors and a full sized, fixed, panoramic glass roof. 2012 BMW 1-Series arriving in NZ next month – from $46,600

The all new 2012 BMW 1 Series is scheduled to go on sale in New Zealand on October 28. The second-generation 1-Series comes offering more fuel efficient engines, new features and a segment-first eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The price of the 116i manual, featuring an entirely new 1.6 litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, will start from $46,600 drive-away. The new base-model boasts the same power output of the previous entry model, the 118i, despite using 24 per cent less fuel (5.7 litres/100km).

The new-generation turbo engine accelerates the 116i from zero to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds – compared to 9.4 seconds for the previous 118i.  Torque output is also up from 180Nm to 220Nm while carbon emissions are down from 174g/km to 132g/km.

Standard kit on the 116i include a 6.5-inch free-standing flatscreen colour display, handsfree Bluetooth functionality including USB, MP3 compatible CD player, cruise control with brake function, auto Start/Stop function, keyless engine start, 6-speaker stereo system, iDrive controller, favourite buttons and freshly designed 16-inch alloy wheels.
