The hard working crew at Nissan UK are pushing on with building the Juke-R prototype and have revealed their latest video.
Fitting the mechanical bits from Nissan’s GT-R supercar into the tiny Juke crossover has proved understandably tricky. But as seen in previous videos, the team has got the engine and drivetrain in place and it’s time to start re-fitting the interior.
Just throw in a couple of buckets and some gauges right? Nah it’s not that easy. With the large GT-R engine pushed back into what was the Juke’s cabin, the builder’s needed to rework almost everything to make sure the controls were accessible to whatever brave soul is going to pilot this unnatural beast.

Nissan has released the fifth installment in its Nissan Juke-R video series which follows the UK-arm of Nissan as it fits the engine and running gear of the GT-R supercar into the Juke small crossover.
This latest installment sees the Japanese automaker strike problems as it attempts to fit the GT-R’s gearbox and all-wheel drive system into the small crossover.
The most significant issues arise from the Juke-R’s wheelbase that is 250mm shorter than the GT-R’s.
The answer comes in the form of shorter prop shafts while making other necessary changes to keep the GT-R’s rigidity and handling.

Nissan has pulled a shock unveiling of its hardcore Juke-R concept car at a media launch in Malaga, Spain. This is the first time the finished project has been seen in the flesh.
Nissan will build two examples of the Juke-R one in left-hand drive and one in right-hand drive. The two concept machines will be used for testing purposes from next month and may lead to a slightly tamer production version in the future.
The concepts come equipped with the GT-R’s twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre 390kW V6 engine and advanced four-wheel drive system. It also features a widened body painted in a matte black finish, aerodynamic tweaking and large GT-R-style black alloy wheels wrapped in low profile tyres. The Juke-R interior has also been given an extensive refit with a 4WD controller, GT-R touch screen and engine control system all installed. The Nissan Juke-R prototype has quickly captured the imagination of performance car fans globally. Work on the GT-R powered Juke continues and a new video has been released by Nissan’s UK arm, which has been assigned the tough task.
Building the Juke-R means taking the 390kW GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 motor and creating space for it in the compact crossover. But that alone wouldn’t be enough, the Juke-R will also be fitted with the full all-wheel-drive system, the GT-R’s electronics and complete drivetrain. Once completed, the Juke-R is expected to be the world’s fastest crossover and the first of two prototypes will go on show at the Tokyo Motor Show in December.
Till then Nissan is drip-feeding video updates showing its progress on the Juke-R. It certainly looks like a challenging build. This latest video (view below) walks us through the work that’s going into constructing the roll cage inside the Juke’s body shell. It also shows us the structure that will house the GT-R’s engine, drivetrain and mechanical systems.

Nissan’s UK arm recently undertook an ambitious project when it decided to drop the running gear of a GT-R supercar into the body of its Juke crossover.
Building the Juke-R means taking the 390kW GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 motor and creating space for it in the compact crossover’s engine bay. That alone would be tricky enough but the Juke-R will also be fitted with the full all-wheel-drive system, the GT-R’s electronics and complete drivetrain. Not exactly something you’d knock together in your garage with a few mates.

Work is progressing the Nissan Juke-R project that will see the big-power drivetrain from Nissan’s GT-R supercar wedged into the Juke small crossover. Two street legal prototypes are currently being built in a collaboration effort by Nissan Europe and motorsports firm RML. One of the prototypes will be in RHD with the other in LHD.
The Godzilla motor is the latest version of this 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 monster and produces 390kW of power and 612Nm of peak torque. Nissan’s engineers mounted the GT-Rs six-speed transaxle under the boot while the front and rear ends are joined by a modified GT-R 4WD driveline and prop shaft.
Once the frog-eyed Juke has it’s new engine in place Nissan will modify the exterior with a carbon-fibre wide body kit that includes several GT-R styling touches.
