VW teases its fancy pick-up facelift for Amarok

As the pick-up truck bling war escalates, Volkswagen has fired a tech-heavy shot at the competition by teasing a few pics of its Amarok facelift ‘Aventura’ launch model.

The most in-your-face show of spec comes in the form of its new cutting-edge multimedia centre and navigation system.

The new colour-display matches a colour 3D display between the classic round instruments and a well laid-out multifunction steering will should keep drivers’ eyes off the road for the shortest possible time.

The eight-speed transmission can now be controlled with a firmer hand with the optional paddle switches on the steering wheel. Looking at the grunted-up spec sheet on the German giant’s tradie tease sheet that accompanied these impressive photos it might pay to hold on – the top-spec version of the engine is now making 550Nm and 165kW. It will hit the legal limit in a car-like 7.9 seconds, and a very illegal 193km/h at full stretch.

Comfy seats are another highlight of the new spec – especially for small business owners who’re keen resting their backs after carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders.

Both of the passenger and driver (if the option box is ticked), get 14-way electrically-adjustable seats, including height, lumbar and even width (let’s call that one the physical majesty adjuster). Nappa leather covers with contrast stitching and a bum warmer for winter completes a specification package which the marketing bumf describes as catering for “discerning customers” – we’d call it tradies who deserve it.
