Video: Kiwi breaks Bathurst record

Car and SUV is not normally in to covering motorsport, but a Kiwi breaking records in Australia is worth it.

Kiwi supercar ace Shane van Gisbergen broke the track record at Bathurst during qualifying for the Bathurst 12 hour race last week.

Driving the Tekno Autosports McLaren 650S GT3, Van Gisbergen completed a lap of the 6.213 km track in 2m 01.286s.

The last Kiwi lauded for such an effort was Greg Murphy, who for years held the V8 Supercar record on the track with his ‘lap of the gods’.
