Ute of the year double header for Ranger

Ute of the year double header for Ranger

Ford’s Ranger XLT ute has claimed a double win in this year’s NZ4WD magazine 4WD of the year awards.

Not only did the top-selling utility vehicle win the Ute of the year category for a second year in a row, it also headed off a range of other SUV, wagon and luxury four-wheel-drive models to claim the overall New Zealand 4WD of the year title for 2014.

“And fair enough, too,” says the magazine’s editor, Ross MacKay.

“The Ranger is the pick of the ute crop at the moment.”

The Ford Ranger XLT ute was one of five category winners in the 2014 awards.

The others were:

  • Compact recreational 4WD of the Year: Kia Sportage LX
  • Medium recreational 4WD of the Year: Jeep Cherokee
  • 4WD Wagon of the Year: Isuzu MU-X
  • Luxury 4WD of the Year: Range Rover Sport

Mackay says that NZ4WD magazine is the voice of the recreational 4WD sector in this country with a broad range of content appealing to a wide range of 4WD and SUV owners.
