Updated 2012 Jaguar range and XKR-S coming to NZ

Jaguar has introduced upgrades across its range of 2012 models at the recent New York Motor Show and the updated machines will be available in NZ by the end of the year.

The XF sports sedan has received powertrain updates to improve performance and economy. There is also a new interior look and exterior design. The XJ luxury sedan now has a Rear Seat Comfort package offering a limousine experience. The new 300km/h XKR-S now tops the XK range.

“Substantial changes and improvements have been made across the XF, XJ and XK ranges bringing performance, refinement and economy to new levels” says Paul Ricketts, Brand Manager of Jaguar New Zealand “While fresh design enhancements strengthen the appeal of Jaguar’s latest line-up.” said Mr Ricketts.

The XF, now receives new front and rear revisions to its appearance that bring it in line with the flagship XJ. The supercharged XFR features further unique design enhancements that signal the performance available in this range-topper.

Major technical advances include an all-new high-tech 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine in the XF, which comes with a fuel and emissions-saving Intelligent Stop/Start system for the first time in a Jaguar. This XF will be the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the Jaguar line-up – achieving 5.4 litres per 100 kms combined and 149g/km CO2. The new 2.2-litre diesel model has a power output of 126 kWs and 450Nm of torque.

A new 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox will be available mated to all the engines.

New bi-function HID xenon headlamps incorporate LED daytime running lights with a ‘J-Blade’ signature and three front bumper and lower rear valance treatments differentiate between variants. The tail lamps are now LED for stop, tail and direction indicator functions and the refreshed exterior now offers new alloy wheel choices.

An upgraded interior has new seats, instrument panel and optional 1200W Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system which was first introduced in the XJ range.

For the flagship Jaguar XJ luxury saloon, a suite of enhancements to the interior and options list includes a new Rear Seat Comfort package, which incorporates electric recline, lumbar adjustment and massage functions for a genuine limousine experience.

The new XKR-S, creates a new performance flagship for Jaguar by becoming its most powerful production car ever, capable of 300kmh and 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds

Cosmetic alterations have been made to the front and rear of the entire XK range, while further personalisation options are available to both the car’s performance and styling through a series of special order upgrade packages.

The 2012 Jaguar XK has revised front and rear styling giving the XK a refreshed appearance. New intelligent LED technology is incorporated into slimmer headlamps.

“The world has been introduced to an entirely new generation of Jaguars in the past few years. With the new product range, today’s Jaguar is at full-strength for the first time. The 2012 XF, XJ and XK are design-led products that break new boundaries. We believe our cars resonate with customers on an emotional level and that’s reflected both in the way they drive and the way they look.”

The 2012 Jaguars will arrive in New Zealand late this year.
