There’s no doubt that car dashboards will soon be swept up in new technology but next in line is the humble rear-view mirror. Korean company NeoView Kolon has been busy developing a transparent transistor for a special OLED display, and now it has found a way to integrate that technology into a car’s rear-view mirror. As seen in the sketchy photo the mirror would display what looks like speed as well as two other numerical indicators, what gear you’re in, and a host of auxiliary information.
If this new tech is really desingned for rear-view mirrors it’s hard to understand how it can be used safely and effectively. It seems unlikely that a driver could quickly note the information tell what’s going on behind the car and not steer into a lamp post. But if nothing else, the technology is exciting.
