Chevrolet’s C6 Corvette platform is quickly becoming a very popular design for independent coachbuilders, with several firms reworking the classic sports car to mixed results. The Bertone Mantide has been gathering the most attention recently (read news item) but now there’s the new 9 Competizione from SV Motor Company ready to compete.

The company is currently in the final assembly stage with the first two examples of the new 9 Competizione and is set to unveil the car in the coming weeks.

Under the replacement sheet metal/carbon-fibre, SV has kept the basic C6 Corvette platform but has made various changes to the C6’s specifications.

Thanks to being clothed in almost full carbon-fibre bodywork, 132 pounds have been dropped from the Corvette’s kerb weight and car has a perfect 50/50 front to rear weight distribution. Sadly, the powertrain has been left untouched but SV engineers have tweaked the brakes and suspension set-up and added Pirelli PZero Rosso tyres.

Peak power can be boosted, however, if customers select SV’s revised intake and a custom-tuned exhaust option. This boosts power on the base LS3-powered Corvette from 436hp to 450hp and sees the 9 Competizione’s 0-100kph time drop to just 4.0 seconds.

The SV will produce 1,000 units of the 9 Competizione at a cost of $99,995 USD which does include the donor C6 Corvette. The first showing of the SV 9 Competizione will be this weekend in San Francisco, U.S.A.
