Suzuki S-Cross sponsorship for shooting stars

Promising young shooters across the Netball central zone are being given the opportunity to learn from NZ international netball representative Irene van Dyk with the launch of the Suzuki shooting clinics.

The clinics will be held across Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu, Taranaki and Wellington and will be led by van Dyk.

Supported by Suzuki New Zealand, van Dyk will be driving to the shooting clinics in a new white S-Cross 1.6 Ltd which has been livened up with bold graphics, topped off by her signature.

Van Dyk says she is looking forward to giving the youngsters the opportunity to develop their shooting further.

“I’m really excited about having the chance to help our younger talent to know how to train and to prepare for being on court at the elite level,” she says.

“Unless there is a committed sponsor like Suzuki, programmes like this just don’t happen,” she says. “Suzuki’s support is not only contributing to netball now, but also for the future.”

Netball Central Zone chief executive officer Carolyn Young says that this is a much-needed opportunity for young shooters to enhance their game and help to close the gap between age group netball and the elite game.

“Learning from Irene will be a fantastic experience for these youngsters. We are all very fortunate that she is so determined to give back to the community and to the game itself. Suzuki has also made a considerable contribution to this programme and we are grateful for their continued support.”

“Suzuki has been a supporter of the Central Pulse netball team and we’re helping to instigate the Suzuki Shooting Clinics programme to develop up and coming netball shooting talent,” says Suzuki automotive general manager Gary Collins.

“Irene required a vehicle suitable for her busy lifestyle and with plenty of leg room for herself and other passengers,” says Collins. “The S-Cross is a crossover suitable for both driving around town and longer journeys. It has plenty of luggage space for all her training gear and is a great fit in all aspects.”

“Irene has a wealth of experience and knowledge and Suzuki is delighted to be able to partner with her to develop a positive initiative for netball in New Zealand,” he says.
