Subaru aims for Nurburgring trifecta

SubaruSubaru Tecnica International (STI) will take on the German Nürburgring 24-Hour Race this month in a new generation all-wheel-drive WRX STI racing car.

It is the seventh consecutive year in which the team has headed to the infamous and challenging ‘Green Hell’ in the German Eifel Mountain region for this 24-hour endurance race.

Subaru is aiming for its third victory in the SP3T class, in a race program takes place from June 19 to 22.

The WRX STI used in this year’s challenge employs special parts and is tuned for endurance racing, but uses the same core components as those on the standard WRX STI says Subaru.

The team is officially known as the 2014 STI NBR Challenge, under general team manager, Hideharu Tatsumi and manager, Masahiro Ozawa.

The drivers are: Toshihiro Yoshida (Japan), Kouta Sasaki (Japan), Marcel Lasée (Germany) and Carlo van Dam (Netherlands).

Subaru says the race will be streamed at:

Subaru official site
Subaru global site
Subaru-Ustream

Separately, according to Subaru, Ustream will also broadcast live through car-mounted cameras, plus official videos, interviews with drivers and technicians.

This service will be available at subaru.jp
