Dutch supercar manufacturer Spyker has used last weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance for the global debut of its latest model, the all-new C8 Aileron Spyder convertible. Joining the hardtop, which debuted at March’s Geneva Motor Show, the C8 Aileron Spyder is described as a prototype but is scheduled to enter production in the first half of next year.

The Aileron is fully handcrafted features full-on aircraft-inspired styling with turbine-styled air scoops, Rotorblade wheels and small propeller emblems, as a homage to Spyker’s roots in early aviation. The interior is upholstered in quilted Litano leather available in 14 standard colors to match up with the 16 exterior tints and 8 soft-top choices. The cabin also features a Chronoswiss dashboard and Kharma premier sound system.

What separates the Spyder from its copue sibling is the electric-hydraulic roof that saves weight with a manually-operated single central latch mechanism. The decklid is embossed with the company’s motto, in Latin: “Nulla Tenaci Invia Est Via” (for the tenacious, no road is impassable).

Motivation for the Dutch roadster comes from an Audi sourced 4.2L V8 engine putting out 298kW (400hp)of power and 480Nm (354lb-ft) of torque which is sent to the rear wheels via a Getrag six-speed manual or ZF automatic gearbox. The auto transmission will see the C8 sprint to 100km/h from standing in 4.5 seconds, on to a top speed of 300km/h (186mph).

The Aileron Spyder is scheduled to go into production in the first half of next year.
