Rolls-Royce expands into South America for first time

Rolls-Royce is really putting itself out there and after establishing a presence in the Chinese, Indian, and Russian markets, Rolls-Royce is now expanding into South America.

While Rolls-Royce has never officially sold cars in the continent, a number of private imports have made it through. But the announcement heralds in the first time in its history that Rolls-Royce will launch product in the South American market.

Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller is currently in South America to meet with potential dealers in Brazil and Chile. Two dealers have already been announced: the Via Italia Group in Brazil and Williamson Balfour Motors in Chile.

Speaking in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Muller said: “Brazil and Chile have seen impressive economic growth, with an increasing demand from discerning customers for pinnacle luxury products. Rolls-Royce is growing very successfully in a number of fast-growing emerging markets and it is therefore appropriate that we have a strong presence in Brazil and Chile.”

The news comes at a time when Rolls-Royce’s sales are experiencing a 41 percent sales increase over 2010’s year-to-date figures, and orders have been taken well into 2012.
