Rinspeed unveils latest whacky racer

Rinspeed iChange s

Rinspeed unveiled yesterday its latest project – the iChange – which will have its debut at the Geneva Auto Show. The Rinspeed iChange can transform in seconds from a one-seater sports car to a passenger vehicle with enough room for three.

The Rinspeed iChange weighs 1,050 kg and is powered by an electric motor that outputs 150kW. Giving it powerhouse performance figures; a top speed of 220 km/h and the car is able to reach 100 km/h in less than four seconds. Most interesting about the powertrain of the iChange is that it features a six-speed pre-selector gearbox from a Subaru WRX.

Another interesting characteristic is the lack of doors with the iChange using an electrically powered roof section that tilts forward to allow for access.

Clearly another clever concept from Rinspeed but the chances of it ever reaching any form of production are slim at best.
