Refreshed Mazda MX-5 on sale in Japan

Mazda MX-5 facelift fq

Mazda has taken its MX-5 and given it a serious tweaking in both mechanics and aesthetics. The updated 2009 MX-5 has just gone on sale in the domestic Japanese market.

On the outside the Roadster gets a smaller version of the front bumper smile we’ve seen on the new Mazda3, new alloy wheels, generally stronger exterior lines and three new colours. Inside it gets new instrument gauges, more supportive seats and a new MX-5-specific BOSE system.

Under the bonnet, the engine gets a higher redline, the automatic transmission gets new modes, the manual gearbox is apparently more refined and the front end has been lowered. Those are just the basic changes to the MX-5 set-up, more fine tuning has been done to make an already good car, that little bit better.
