New Ranger arrives en masse

More than 1000 new model year 2015 Ford Rangers have started rolling onto Auckland’s wharf.

Of the more than 1000 units arriving, some 85% are high specification XLT and Wildtrak models, and of 1000 approximately 75% are automatic.

“We are launching the new Ranger with good supply and a healthy mix of variants that marries up to what Kiwis prefer in utes,” says Ford New Zealand managing director Corey Holter.

Holter says that the company learnt a lot from the launch of the current Ranger as well as its ongoing sales success.

Despite initial supply issues in 2012 and early 2013, the Ford Ranger has gone on to become not only New Zealand’s number one Ute.

It toppled the Hilux in 2014 and is now, in 2015 year-to-date sales, New Zealand’s overall number one new vehicle, leaving the Corolla behind.

The new Ford Ranger features a new-look front end, and a new smart and functional interior. The new Ford Ranger also boasts an array of smart new technologies including Ford’s SYNC2, the latest generation of Ford’s in-car connectivity system.

SYNC2 gives drivers smarter and safer ways to stay connected. Using voice commands, like “temperature 20 degrees”, or “I’m hungry”, the driver can control the climate controls, entertainment system and navigation systems. An eight-inch touchscreen places more controls at the driver’s fingertips, with color-coded corners for easy menu navigation.

For convenience, the new Ranger has other smart features such as internal and external 240-volt power sockets that can be used to power a laptop computer anywhere, from a work site to a family road trip.

“The new Ranger features a record number of new vehicles we are introducing in 2015,” says Holter.

“In almost every segment, we have new Ford’s with smart technology arriving this year.

We’ve recently launched the all-new Mondeo; this month it’s the new Ranger and coming up is the new Ford Focus, new Everest and the all-new Mustang.”

“Kiwis will see almost an entirely new Ford showroom from 2015.”
