R36 Nissan GT-R gets the green light

Nissan R35 GT-R

Following recent reports that the R35 Nissan GT-R would be receiving updated suspension, rear diffuser and air intakes, it’s looking like a revised version of the R35 Nissan GT-R — which will be known as the R36 — is in the pipeline, too.

While the GT-R has proven a rabid beast of a vehicle with its VR38DETT 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 mill that produces 480PS in factory fare, other manufacturers are looking to challenge the GT-R’s street cred. Not wanting to lose said street cred, and wanting to stay one step ahead of the competition, a Senior VIP at Nissan recently let on that they are looking to succeed the GT-R with a new R36 edition. While plans are afoot to maintain the VR38DETT, the current game plan is to inject a little more grunt to the package to keep it out front.

The good news is that the R36 is proposed to be rolling off the production floor by 2013 at the latest!
