Peugeot unleashes RCZ R into New Zealand

A small number of exclusive Peugeot RCZ R coupes will become available from Peugeot dealers on June 1.

The RCZ R has been developed by Peugeot Sport, who were set the task to develop a more intense version of the RCZ coupe that offers performance for sporting use on a circuit, while retaining comfort and pleasure for everyday use.

Compared to the standard RCZ, the RCZ R features upgrades to the chassis, brakes, interior and features a hand-built engine that produces 199kW / 270bhp and 330Nm – making it the most powerful Peugeot production car yet.

Top Gear UK described the engine of the RCZ R as the most powerful 1.6 litre turbo four cylinder engine in the world, with 270bhp / 199 kW and nearly 169bhp per litre – but it produces CO2 emissions of just 145g/km.

Peugeot NZ Divisional Manager Todd Groves says there are only 6 destined for the NZ market so it is a very exclusive sports car.

The Peugeot RCZ R is available in 6 speed manual and is fully optioned with satellite navigation, a JBL sound system, and a carbon roof and is priced from $77, 490 including GST.
