Online tool supports tyre awareness week

DSC_0039An independent supplier of wheel and tyre specific data, DriveRight has developed an online tool for motorists to use to check their correct tyre pressures.

DriveRight says this online tools supports the work behind the inaugural New Zealand tyre awareness week which started April 7

According to a survey, conducted by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority of New Zealand (EECA), about 40% of drivers check their tyre pressure only once a month. That is just the recommended minimum, with 25% of drivers stating that they check their tyre pressure only every six months.

DriveRight and EECA developed a solution that allows Kiwi drivers to easily check the correct tyre pressure for their vehicle online.

By cross-referencing the NZTA vehicle registration database, with DriveRight’s own database of OE and optional tyre sizes and legally permitted tyre pressures, drivers can check the tyre size and pressure for their vehicles by simply typing in a license plate number on the website.

The online tool can be found here

“Tyres are the only point of contact between a car and the road, and yet their importance to a car’s safety and fuel economy is easily overlooked”, explains the campaign website. The right tyre pressure leads to less tyre wear, more security and optimised energy efficiency.

“We support tyre awareness week, because the importance of tyres and wheels for a driver’s safety cannot be rated highly enough,” says DriveRight director Richard Bailey.

More information about the tyre awareness week and what drivers should be doing when it comes to their tyres can be found on the website
