NZ to get Honda supercar

While Jazz, Civic and CRV may lead Honda on volume in New Zealand, the company has confirmed it will have something more interesting as a halo model next year.

Managing director Nobuya Sonada has confirmed today the NSX supercar will be launched here.

“The NSX is a part of Honda’s DNA, and we are proud to bring this icon to New Zealand,” Sonada says. “The release of the NSX is perfectly timed with Honda’s return to Motorsport, and it celebrates our international direction as a company.”

Honda revealed the firsty production version of the NSX at the 2015 North American International Auto Show today.

The NSX is powered by a approach new twin-turbocharged 75-degree DOHC V6 engine with a 9-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) and three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system. It was developed under the concept of a “human-centred supercar, a car that puts the driver first in every aspect of its design.

The exact date of the New Zealand release is yet to be confirmed.
