BIG BOYS TOYS Koenigsegg

After displaying the latest cars, bikes, speedboats and top-notch technology over the past 12 years, the team at Big Boys Toys have decided to give 2009 a miss. Citing a failure to attract enough top exhibitors to this year’s show, the decision was made to skip the 2009 event due to the current economic climate. Evidently, trying to back up last years’ performance of the $2.3 million Koenigsegg CCX was proving difficult, with another drawcard vehicle like this not easy to come across. “A lot of the companies were just finding it difficult to justify New Zealand,” said Michael Richardson from event organiser, DMG World Media. “Unfortunately, 2009 seems to be one of those years across the board.”

Evidently, while organisers were not worried if crowd numbers were slightly down, they were worried about the public leaving disappointed if the show did not live up to previous performances. “Given the economic situation, we just didn’t think we could put on something we could be proud of.”
