Morgan to produce its first electric model – LIFEcar2

While Morgan is well known for it’s elegant retro-inspired machines it’s probably not the first marque you’d expect to build an electric car. But with everyone from Mercedes-Benz to Audi toying around with electric-powered supercars, Morgan has decided to have a crack itself. The first evidence of this new direction was seen back in 2008 when Morgan showed off its LIFEcar concept. It was a heavily-hyped hyrdogen fuel cell vehicle that featured a total of four electric motors and could drive up to 350km on a single tank. But that was just a concept and was never intended for production.

Now reports are stating that Morgan has plans for a successor to the LIFEcar named the LIFEcar 2, and the second installment is destined for production. It will unsurprisingly take a coupe form and will get its power from a diesel-electric powertrain with a range of around 1,500 kms. Despite its unique powertrain, the LIFEcar 2 will apparently be pure sports car.

Details are scarce at this stage on the Morgan LIFEcar 2, but check back as we bring you updates.
