Morgan officially unveils EvaGT at Pebble Beach event

The Morgan Motor Company is at it again with another beautifully styled and power-packing automotive work of art. The latest machine to joint the Morgan stable is the EvaGT which has just been revealed at this month’s 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

With a design that’s aggressively aerodynamic yet still draws on its classical roots and an awareness of fuel economy the EvaGT is a well thought out concept. The EvaGT represents a first for Morgan in that it will have four seats (the rear seats are only suitable for kids), and luggage space.

The EvaGT sticks with Morgan’s all-aluminum body and chassis design featuring the same lightweight bonded aluminum chassis used on the Aero SuperSports.

Like other Morgan’s the engine is borrowed from BMW in the form of the N54 twin-turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder which produces 228kW and 295 pound-feet of torque. In terms of performance the car is expected to reach 100kph in just 4.5 seconds and push on to a top speed of 273kph.

Weighing in at 1,251 kg, the EvaGT is very light for a modern vehicle and this helps its stiff acceleration and fuel economy.

Pricing for the Morgan EvaGT is expected to be around the $150,000 USD mark, with the first production examples arriving in 2012.
