MG unveils ZERO concept car in Beijing

The Beijing International Auto Show has kicked off and one of the first carmakers to reveal a concept vehicle was old favourite MG.

Named the MG ZERO it’s a U.K.-designed concept car from the British brand. The model is a compact vehicle, measuring just 4m in length, and is intended as the first vehicle to help MG push into the high-volume segments of small-to-medium sized hatches.

Distinguishing the car is the high-tech interior and trick red lighting inside and out.

So what’s the story with MG? Well, now it’s owned by Chinese automaker Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC). Apparently the ZERO may make it to market in China badged as the Roewe 150 or the MG2. The Roewe brand is one of SAIC marques derived from the Rover assets it inherited when it purchased the former MG Rover. The Rover brand itself is now owned by TATA which explains why the Rover name cannot be used.

Check back as we bring you more models from the Beijing Auto Show.
