Mercedes-Benz announces new CLS-Class line up

The New Zealand Mercedes-Benz distributor has announced the pricing and specification of the newly revised CLS-Class Coupe and Shooting Brake models for 2015.

Four Coupes and two Shooting Brakes grace the New Zealand line-up, and a mixture of power plants including a 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel in the CLS 250 CDI, a new twin turbocharged 3-litre V6 in the CLS 400, and a 5.5-litre AMG-fettled bi-turbo V8 in the CLS 63 AMG, which now has an uprated output of 430kW.

CLS 500 Coupe - 5The 4.7-litre twin turbocharged V8 CLS 500 gains a new 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission replacing the previous models 7G-Tronic plus transmission.

The 2015 CLS-Class is distinguished from the previous model year with a new diamond radiator grille, new Multibeam LED headlamps, and new darkened rear tail lamps.

Inside the cabin there is a new freestanding 21.3cm colour diagonal screen display for the audio, heating and navigation systems, and a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel, plus CLS 500 Coupe - 2numerous other detail refinements according to Mercedes-Benz.

The CLS 400 receives Passion nappa leather upholstery and a multi contour seat package while the CLS 500 gets the active multi-contour seat package with heating and cooling as well as the Exclusive package featuring Exclusive Passion leather upholstery.

The CLS 63 is equipped with the AMG driver’s package which provides the engine output upgrade to 430kW and a maximum theoretical velocity of 300km/h where conditions and laws CLS 500 Coupe - 4allow.

All CLS-Class models sold locally in New Zealand will be fitted with the Driver Assistance Package plus, as well as the Multi-beam LED headlamps, adaptive high beam assist, active parking assist with Parktronic, and 360 degree camera.

The CLS Shooting Brake models will now be equipped with privacy glass as well as the American cherrywood and black inlay flooring in the luggage compartment with the easy-pack load securing kit.

Mercedes-Benz cars New Zealand general manager Ben Giffin says the enhancements and innovations in the new CLS-Class models provide exceptional value for money as well as delivering customers cutting edge design and advanced assistance technologies.
