Mazda6 driving Prostate Cancer Awareness

Mazda New Zealand is joining the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand family of sponsors to help raise awareness about the disease.

It is providing the organisation with a Mazda6 branded with the Foundation’s blue ribbon.

Andrew Clearwater, Managing Director Mazda New Zealand says the Prostate Cancer Foundation does an outstanding job.

“At Mazda we know the importance of regular servicing and maintenance of vehicles, and similarly, our bodies need to be regularly checked and maintained to keep them running well,” says Clearwater.

“Prostate cancer is the most common cancer for men in New Zealand*, so we’re helping the Prostate Cancer Foundation spread awareness of the importance having a regular check-up,” he says.

Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand chief executive Graeme Woodside says its mission is to provide an environment empowering men to make informed decisions about the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

“We offer peer support to men diagnosed with prostate cancer, as well as support to their families throughout the country, and we actively promote awareness of this disease,” says Woodside.

We are grateful that Mazda recognises the importance of this and thank them for their support, the Mazda6 will assist us in getting the word out further to New Zealanders,” he says.

*Based on the statistics from the Ministry of Health 2007 – 2009 which show an average of 3082 registrations and 602 deaths.
