Maserati shows first SUV

Yet another luxury brand has joined the SUV world, with Maserati revealing its long-awaited Levante.

Officially due for reveal at Geneva next week, the company has released early pictures.

Despite the family tie-up with Jeep, the Levante is based on the same flexible platform as the Quattroporte, Ghibli.

The Levante is equipped with both petrol and diesel engines, initially V6, with a V8 to follow.

All versions electronic suspension with controlled damping and air springs, which can be set on several levels, “Q4” intelligent all-wheel drive and eight speed automatic transmission specially calibrated for the brand’s new SUV.

The Maserati Levante is built at the Mirafiori plant in Turin.

The first cars have already come off the assembly line with the launch planned for this northern spring in Europe, to be followed by the rest of the world and arriving in here early in 2017.
