Maize maze tribute to truck

An Ohio farm has paid tribute to Ford’s F-150 truck – in corn.

Leaders Farms near Napoleon, Ohio, has made the seven-acre maze to entertain locals – who have been tackling the family’s mazes for nearly two decades.

“We are a multi-generation Ford-driving family,” said Kristin Leaders.

“My husband Brad was reading a magazine last winter and saw the new F-150 design and loved it. We thought it would really stand out as the feature of this year’s corn maze.”

Planning, designing and growing the maze – which can take an hour to complete – takes up to a year. GPS was used to precisely cut the shape into the maze.

a year-round activity. Creating the F-150 design required GPS technology to precisely cut the shape of the truck into the corn field.

There’s also Big Jack – a massive pumpkin cannon mounted to the chassis of a restored Ford F-450 Super Duty. Big Jack is powered by a 500-pound, 30-psi compressed air tank that’s capable of launching pumpkins almost half a mile.

Leaders Farms is also home to 13 goats and 40 cows, and to Scout, the barnyard dog. The maze is expected to produce about 1,120 bushels of corn.
