New M3 and M4 offer more spec and value says BMW

BMW M3 SedanBMW New Zealand has released pricing for the new M3 sedan and M4 coupe.

Pricing for the new BMW M3 Sedan is up just over $1,000, but for this small increase buyers receive almost $20,000 of added specification says the company.

Amongst features now included as standard are a 7-speed M double clutch transmission, carbon-fibre roof, 19” alloy wheels, head-up display and adaptive M suspension.

“The all-new M3 Sedan represents an outstanding value proposition, as the drive-away price of $159,900 for this new addition to the BMW range has risen less than 1%, but the level of standard specification in the car has increased significantly over its predecessor,” says BMW NZ MD, Nina Englert.

The all-new BMW M4 Coupe features similar levels of safety, performance, comfort and technology specification and has a drive-away price of $169,900, and such as the M3 Sedan, includes three year scheduled servicing and a five year warranty as standard.

With regards to outright performance, both new BMW M models are up on power and torque, in combination with reduced fuel consumption and fewer carbon emissions compared with previous models.

The new six-cylinder in-line petrol engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology is capable of generating 317kW of power and 550Nm of torque, yet uses only 8.3-litres of fuel per 100km – a reduction of almost 25% from old to new model. This powerful new engine helps the two new models cover the 0-100km/h sprint in a breathtaking 4.1 seconds.

The kerb weight of the new M3 Sedan has been reduced 63kg thanks to weight saving initiatives such as aluminium bonnet and front side panels, lightweight chassis, carbon fibre reinforced plastic tail shaft and the carbon-fibre roof, and now tips the scales at 1560kg. In the case of the M4 Coupe, the vehicle weighs in at 1537kg.

The new BMW M models will be available for sale in New Zealand from mid-July.

New model details:

  • BMW M3 $159,900 drive-away
