Lotus has always had its fingers on the pulse of motorsport, and to prove it further it has revealed its Evora Type 124 Endurance Racecar.

Based on the recently released 2010 Lotus Evora road car, the Type 124 is a 400-horsepower, safety-caged, FIA-compliant racing car built to tackle the most demanding type of racing – endurance racing.

Specifically, the Evora Type 124 was built to take on the ADAC Nurburgring 24 Hours, to test itself on the Green Hell.

To prepare the road car for such a brutal challenge, Lotus took out 200kg of weight, reducing the car’s curb weight to 1,197kg. Power had to be stepped up also, so the mid-mounted Toyota V-6 gets special race tuning to reach 400 horsepower, 124 horsepower more than the standard Evora.

A six-speed sequential racing gearbox, 18 by 9.5-inch wheels, Pirelli racing slicks, carbon fibre racing aero kit and full safety equipment complete an exciting racing package.

The car will contest the ADAC and other endurance races in Malaysia, Dubai and the UK throughout next year.
