Lixtor chases TradeMe with used Lambo

TradeMe-chasing auction site will put a $1 reserve Lamborghini Gallardo on the block – but only if it gets 50,000 members signed up, with $25 in their Lixtor accounts.

“The auction is a fun way to raise awareness about Lixtor and show Kiwis that they have a choice when it comes to online auctions,” says Lixtor founder and CEO Henry Aung.

“Our auction platform has several attractive features, including the fact we don’t charge success fees. However, we need more members to reach ‘critical mass’ and ensure a great experience for everyone buying and selling on”

The well-used Lamborghini already has 38,000 kms on it – and even a hot price on a

“This allows as many people as possible to bid on the auction without making the price of the car become too unaffordable to average bidders,” Aung says.

The 3.7 seconds that the car spends hitting 100km/h from a standing start is probably around the same as the time it takes for bidding to push the price over what’s affordable by ‘average bidders.’ The car is worth over $200,000, after all.

“Our focus is on how many new members we can sign up, not how much we can sell the car for.”
