Lexus launches CT200h luxury hatch into NZ market

Lexus New Zealand has just launched the all-new CT200h, the world’s first full hybrid luxury compact car.

Lexus National Manager, Debbie Pattullo said CT200h is the car for tomorrow’s forward thinking driver, and is the gateway to bring a new generation of customers to the Lexus brand.

“CT200h is an exciting addition to the Lexus line-up. The inclusion of the Lexus Hybrid Drive system in a compact luxury model makes this a unique vehicle which we’re sure the luxury vehicle buyer in New Zealand will appreciate.”

“There’s a definite trend toward small vehicles that do not compromise on features. CT200h gives Lexus a presence in this growing luxury compact segment. At the same time, CT200h is an example of the Lexus commitment to developing cars that are innovative, and different from what’s already out there in the marketplace.”

The modern styling on the CT200h combines with low CO2 emissions and high fuel economy to create a tempting prospect for NZ buyers.

Fuel consumption is just 4.1 litres per 100 kilometres with 94 grams of CO2 emitted per kilometre.

In full EV (Electric Vehicle) mode, the new CT200h can be driven at low speeds  in almost complete silence, using no fuel and emitting zero emissions when certain conditions have been met.

“The CT200h confirms our real-world advantage with a comprehensive range of luxury hybrid vehicles. Joining the Lexus GS, RX and LS models, this is the fifth Lexus hybrid to be sold in New Zealand,” Ms Pattullo said.

Using the latest generation Lexus Hybrid Drive technology, CT200h combines a 1.8 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with a high-output electric motor, an advanced compact battery and a sophisticated energy management system.

CT200h is available in three equipment grades – CT200h, CT200h Limited, and CT200h F Sport.

All models offer driver and passenger dual stage front, front seat side, driver and passenger knee and front/rear curtain shield airbags. An Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard, as is Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC).

Standard equipment also includes climate controlled air conditioning; reversing camera; cruise control; a leather steering wheel with audio controls; chrome and leather gear lever; multi-information display with comprehensive hybrid system information; engine immobiliser; auto dimming inside rear view mirror; a six speaker audio system with CD player, audio input jack, USB jack and digital audio player holder; and power windows with auto up/down.

Outside, there are 16 inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running light system, emergency brake lights, and front and rear parking sensors.

CT200h Limited has front and rear performance dampers, a pre-crash safety system with dynamic radar cruise control, sports style front bumper and lower radiator grille, 17 inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, LED headlights with cleaners and auto levelling, auto dimming outside rear view mirrors with auto retract, memory and auto tilt in reverse functions, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, and a smart entry and start system.

Inside, the CT200h Limited adds a Satellite Navigation system controlled by Lexus remote touch, a 10 speaker CD changer system, Bluetooth hands-free telephone functionality, leather and wood steering wheel with additional controls, driver’s seat power adjustment with memory system and lumbar support, leather seats, wood style instrument panel, and alarm.

F Sport offers performance and visual enhancements over the CT200h and CT200h Limited.

It is distinguished on the outside by dark silver 10-spoke 17 inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, a sports style grille, side skirts, and a larger style rear spoiler. ‘F Sport’ badges feature on the front fenders.

F Sport shock absorbers and springs were tuned with dynamic performance in mind.

The sporty image is continued inside with uniquely styled leather seats; an F Sport style steering wheel, scuff plates with ‘F Sport’ logo, sports pedals, and a metallic style instrument panel.

The black colour scheme is continued across the roof liner, sun visors and overhead console, creating a more intense and sporty feel inside.

CT200h has the option of adding leather seats with front seat heaters. Customers can also select a Satellite Navigation package with 10 speaker CD changer system, Bluetooth hands-free telephone capability, Lexus remote touch, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and a smart entry and start system.

All Lexus vehicles sold new in New Zealand come with a four year or 140,000 kilometre warranty and Full Maintenance Service Plan. The Lexus Plus service provides 24 hour emergency assistance for a variety of roadside and travel related concerns.

The recommended retail price for the CT200h is $51,500 while the CT200h Limited and CT200h F Sport are priced at $67,600 and $69,000 respectively.

The CT200h will be available from Lexus dealers from the first of April, 2011
