Lexus IS F coming to New Zealand

Lexus IS F coming to New Zealand

Lexus IS F 2009 fq

At its heart beats a 5.0 litre quad cam all alloy V8 engine delivering 311kW of power and incorporating the latest high performance engine technologies such as titanium valves and direct injection.

The responsiveness of the IS F engine is partly due to a world first for Lexus, Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Electric (VVT-iE). This is an electrically activated variable-intake valve timing system which uses an electric motor to alter the timing of the intake camshaft. Essentially it responds faster than conventional hydraulic systems, and delivers excellent torque and good fuel economy over a wider range of engine speeds.

The IS F swaps cogs with an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission with paddle shifters that upshift almost instantly (as quick as 0.1 seconds), a race-tuned suspension system and extremely powerful Brembo brakes that feature huge 14.2 inch cross drilled rotors and six piston calliper’s up front, (13.6 inch at the rear), 19-inch forged aluminium BBS 10 spoke wheels and a specially tuned stability control system that features a Sports Mode to support high performance driving.

On the inside the plush leather seats are trimmed in IS-F blue and feature the Lexus “F” logo.

The sports type seats in the front are heated, the Optitron instrumentation gives clear information at a glance, and the touch screen display on the seven-inch electro multi-vision colour display screen gives you control over many of the vehicle’s systems such as navigation, audio, climate control and Bluetooth wireless communication.

The audio system features a 14-speaker Mark Levinson premium surround system with an in dash six disc CD/DVD changer with Bluetooth and MP3 compatibility.

The bodywork of the IS F was fine tuned in the wind tunnel and during testing on racetracks around the world. Tracks include the Nurburgring, Circuit Paul Ricard, Zolder, Laguna Seca and Fuji, the IS-F’s home circuit.

IS F will be launched for public sale in New Zealand in October this year.
