Already the main partner of the extreme sailing series, Land Rover is now also the official team and vehicle partner to the Red Bull team.

Land Rover has a long tradition with sailing reaching as far back as 1988 as a sponsor of Cowes Week, the home of British yacht racing.

The Red Bull extreme sailing team is skippered by Austrian Roman Hagara. Roman and his team mate and tactician Hans Peter Steinacher, who have each won two Olympic gold medals in addition to multiple world, european and national championship titles. Last season the team finished third overall, their first series podium.

Land Rover will provide multiple vehicles to assist with transportation of the team and equipment; their branding will appear on team clothing and the jib sail.

“The advantage of the partnership between Red Bull Sailing and Land Rover is easy to explain. The Range Rover Sport is one of the most comfortable and high performance vehicles you can drive on land. And to be honest with you, this is the one and only way I’d like to drive to work,” says Roman Hagara.

“This is a very exciting partnership for Land Rover and Red Bull Sailing, both brands share core values of going beyond the realms of the ordinary,” says Jaguar Land Rover global brand experience director Mark Cameron

Now in its seventh season, the competition is an adrenaline-fuelled global stadium racing series competed on Extreme 40 catamarans.

The circuit puts the spectators into the heart of the battle and raises the bar in terms of both high level competition and sporting entertainment.

The circuit is one of only five global sailing events that are endorsed by the international sailing federation, including the America’s Cup, the Volvo ocean race, the World match racing tour and the PWA world tour.
