Lamborgini unleashes Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition

Lamborghini has released details on its latest special edition supercar. Based on the Gallardo, Lamborghini teamed up with Swiss luxury watchmaker Blancpain to create the special machine that pays homage to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing cars. It all makes sense as Blancpain is the title sponsor of the one-make racing series.

So what’s so exclusive about this limited edition machine. Well it’s sharply finished in all black paintwork, is fully road-legal and the Gallardo LP 570-4 Blancpain Edition adopts the racing model’s Countach-sized rear-wing and racing engine cover which apparently improves ventilation.

The car also gets shiny new Skorpius alloy wheels with painted yellow brake calipers and discs made from a carbon-ceramic composite. There is naturally several carbon-fibre pieces such as the rear diffuser and wing mirror surrounds.

Inside, the racing theme continues with black Alcantara with yellow accents and more carbon-fibre trim.

Like the Super Trofeo race car, the Blancpain Edition is motivated by Lambo’s 5.2-liter V10 with the same 570-horsepower found in the series production Gallardo Superleggera

Lamborghini claims the Blancpain Edition is the lightest road-legal model in its range, with a dry weight of 1340 kilograms.

When it comes to straight line performance the Blancpain Edition is unsurprisingly quick, completing the zero to 100 km/h sprint in a mere 3.4 seconds and hitting 200 km/h in just 10.2 seconds. Top speed is around 320 km/h.

There has been no announcement on pricing or production numbers yet but expect it to be exclusive and very pricey.
