KTM sports car released in New Zealand

KTM’s road-focused sports car the X-Bow GT has been released in New Zealand, two years after its unveiling at the 2013 Geneva motor show..

The GT has since become the biggest seller for the Austrian-based KTM company, accounting for 80% of all new X-Bow sales in Europe.

Now it is available to own in New Zealand says the local distributor X-Bow NZ Limited.

Built on the same unique carbon fibre monocoque chassis found across the entire X-Bow range, KTM’s newest sports car is has full wrap around windscreen, whilst still retaining much of the design which has become an identity of the marque since its arrival to market in 2008.

Utilising the X-Bow R as the platform, KTM engineers went about shifting the emphasis of the entry level sports car from a spartan track day weapon to a road-friendly tourer.

Comfort was a major consideration during the design process of the new X-Bow GT. Amenities extend to a driver operated heater and ventilation system. A wind deflector mounted between the roll hoops effectively reduces turbulence, and dust from making its way inside the cockpit, whilst the optional removable soft-top guarantees occupants remain warm and dry when faced with inclement weather.

Retaining the Audi sourced TFSI engine in front of the rear axle, KTM have kept the performance figures of the 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder at 210 kilowatts, with 420 newton meters of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six speed manual transmission, with a mechanical limited slip differential optimising traction for most levels of road adhesion.

Tipping the scales at 847 kilograms, the X-Bow GT will accelerate to 100kmh from standstill in 4.1 seconds. A top speed of 231kmh awaits those willing to push the car in a controlled environment.

Pricing for the 2015 X-Bow GT starts at $149,990, which places it between the X-Bow R ($134,990) and the track only X-Bow RR ($169,990).

Every vehicle is built to order, and KTM offer array of performance and personalisation upgrades from the factory. Full details on the X-Bow range can be found HERE
