Korea’s first supercar prepares for launch

South Korea is about to reveal its very first supercar almost nine years after the first prototype of the model was shown to the press. After some challenging times, including being taken over by a company named the Oullim Group, previously known as Proto Motors now called Oullim Motors, is ready to unleash the Spirra.

Power comes from a 2.7 litre V6 engine sourced from Hyundai. Interestingly, four different power outputs will be made available. In it’s lowest form, the Spirra will produce 129kW (173 bhp) and 245 Nm of torque. The second configuration features a small turbo that helps it generate a more healthy 243 kW (325 bhp) and 471 Nm. The next step up is a power output of 294 kW (395 bhp) and 490 Nm, thanks to a larger turbo.

The big daddy variant is  twin turbo job that pumps out between 331 kW (444 bhp) and 368kW (493 bhp). The maximum torque is 539 Nm. Drive is exclusively through the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. In its most powerful form the Spirra will  go from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. Top end speeds will range from 212 km/h to 310 km/h.

Road grip is provided by 225/40R 19 front and 275/40R 19 rear tyres. The Spirra has a mid-engine layout and is completely hand constructed.

The body is made entirely from carbon fibre, enclosing a tubular spaceframe. It’s a fascinating machine considering the Korean auto industry doesn’t have a formed supercar heritage and the Spirra is set to break new ground.
