Jaguar’s entry into the market for electric vehicles is moving ahead with potential names of their electric vehicles discovered.
The company has registered the names EV-Type, I-Type and I-Pace.
It is unclear what the EV-Type will be, but the latter two are reportedly plug-in versions of the F-Type sportswear and F-Pace crossover.
It’s believed that the cars will use electric battery technology engineered by Williams Advanced Engineering, with reports stating that Williams has been working with repurposed F-TYPE bodyshells.
Speaking to Autoguide at the New York International Auto Show, Jaguar chief designer Ian Callum indicated the company was preparing to reveal a “big surprise”.
“Within two years, we’ll have something that’s not driven by a petrol engine,” he told Autoguide, before joking that it’ll be, “just a couple of hamsters.”
