Intelligent safety systems now an aftermarket option

IDAS_Front_CC_RVEAdvances in safety systems have seen intelligent technologies added to new vehicles – such as lane departure warning and front collision warning.

A new system being launched by Retro Vehicle Enhancements – allows such technology to be added to all vehicles.

Such systems have been seen as such an improvement to safety that leading motoring bodies have been critical of vehicles launched without them.

IDAS – or Intelligent Driver Assist System – is designed to enhance any vehicle’s systems and security.

The device monitors the front and rear of a vehicle recording incidents and activity that may be of interest to the owner, the vehicles’ insurer or maybe even the Police.

It also offers instant recording at the push of a button when driving, capturing that road incident and the 15 seconds before and after the recording is activated.

The system includes:

  • Front Collision Warning prompts driver to use safe distances at any speed.
  • Lane Departure Warning constantly reading your position in the lane in which you are travelling.
  • Beep and Watch: focuses you when traffic ahead has started to move off.
  • Digital Video Recorder constantly covers outward views, front and rear, in motion or when parked and unattended.
  • Instant recording function stores 15 seconds either side of an incident the driver wants to record.

iDAS_rear_screenRVE Group managing director Dave Stanners says the system brings advantages to a number of vehicle vendors and operators.

“For fleet and rental operators this is a great way to improve the safety and security of vehicles,” says Stanners.

“The warning system also assists in improving the standard of vehicle operation, and assists with driver attention.”

IDAS is installed and set up to suit the vehicle and preferred driving style.

This device will reduce risk for company cars, fleet and pool cars and also rental or hire vehicles where there are frequent changes of drivers.

RVE has a nationwide network of authorised installers. The recommended list price is $1499 – including GST and installation.
