Ice driving facility opens for business

A winter driving facility used by premium vehicle distributors which is located adjacent to the Southern Hemisphere proving grounds has opened a new 450-metre driving lane with new snow making system.

Snow Park manager Steve Gould says the facility offers the sole ice driving experience in the Southern Hemisphere and the only one which operates globally during the New Zealand winter season.

The freshly finished facility is now ready for opening at the end of June.

Snow Park is located between Queenstown and Wanaka, and provides the ice driving opportunity, with five-star accommodation in a secluded alpine setting.

Guests will be instructed on the ice by qualified instructors and Audi will supply cars for the experience.

Other luxury vehicle distributors also use the facility to showcase their all-wheel-drive premium models to media, dealers, VIP and potential customers.

“Having worked with Snow Park for several years now, we welcomed the opportunity to extend our relationship further with the new ice driving experience,” says Audi New Zealand general manager Dean Sheed.

“We’re able to showcase the Audi Quattro range of vehicles in an environment perfectly suited to our all-wheel drive technology.”

The Snow Park ice drive experience and full venue hire are available from June 30 – July 28 2014, with other dates available on request.
