Hyundai’s mad 500kW SUV

Hyundai will kill any notions of its Tuscon being a just another ‘soft roader’ at SEMA.

Today it revealed a 500kW-plus version of the 2016 model, built by mad tuner Bisimoto, for the Las Vegas aftermarket industry showcase in November.

The two companies have worked several SEMA projects over the last few years, but the ‘Brute Ute’ is a particularly savage showpony.

A 2.4-litre Theta II flex-fuel engine with a giant Turbonetics’ BTX-6465 turbo and high-volume 2200cc injectors giving it the puff and petrol to make the insane power figure.

With a thorough internal rebuild with everything from sleeved cylinders to specially-made Bisimoto cams and crank, the roll-caged SUV is built for business.

Airbag suspension gives it the obligatory SEMA stance, with a wild custom interior completing the Korean carmaker’s wildest project yet.
