Hyundai gets performance sub-brand ‘N’ on track

Hyundai will showcase a new performance sub-brand ‘N’ at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Korean manufacturer is enjoying a rapid growth spurt, and hopes its WRC foray will convert to sales to performance car enthusiasts.

“We’re changing and challenging expectations of the Hyundai Motor brand,” said its performance division boss Albert Biermann.

“Drivers will soon experience the thrills and emotions of our proven motorsport prowess for themselves. Our future model line-up will include performance-orientated and racetrack-capable cars.”

To hammer home its new taste for go-fast product, Hyundai is showing its mid-engined RM15 and the 2025 Vision Gran Turismo concept alongside the next generation of the i20 WRC rallycar.

Materials and technology sourced through its motorsport programmes will be used extensively in the N models.

Of course, like all manufacturers with performance aspirations, the N engineers are using ‘Green Hell,’ the legendary northern loop at Nurburgring for some of the new range’s tuning and development.
