Honda bringing a hybrid to Goodwood

Honda bringing a hybrid to Goodwood

Honda plans to give the planet a big cuddle at next month’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.

It’ll be bringing a little hybrid. Well, it’ll be bringing a little hybrid fury.

The long-awaited next-gen NSX – will smash the legendary hillclimb with McLaren-Honda F1 driver Jenson Button piloting the very track-friendly new machine.

The hybrid powertrain isn’t like anything that’s come before it – with a petrol-sucking 3.5-litre twin turbo DOHC V6 at its core, and its ‘sport hybrid system’ which is made up of three electric engines, two of which are directing power into its SH-AWD drivetrain.

It’s all meted out through a nine-speed dual clutch semi-automatic transmission, with dynamic torque vectoring making sure every last bit of power finds its way to the right corner at the right time.

A spaceframe using ultra-high strength steel, obligatory carbon fibre, superstrong aluminium and what it only refers to “other rigid and lightweight materials, some of which are world’s first applications.” Strong rumours point to alien technologies on board this sweet-looking supercar.
