Holden’s corporate affairs team has pulled off a unique promotion – launching its new Colorado ute to just one street.
That is a cul-de-sac to be precise, Colorado Place in Avondale, Aiclland.
Residents of the 17 households which make up Colorado Place were treated on Saturday to a unique one-off event today, as Holden celebrated the arrival of the new Colorado with an impromptu street party.
“We wanted to do something a little extraordinary to recognise the launch of this sensational new Holden and, given the name of the street, thought this is the most appropriate place in the whole of the country to do so,” says Holden New Zealand managing director Kristian Aquilina.
“We like to have fun as a brand, we love to engage and interact with the public, and hosting an event such as this is a way to bring the party to the people.”
Holden took the celebration one step further and involved the residents in a special draw in which $25,000 of prizes were shared amongst three households.
Prizes included the use of a Holden Colorado for a year, return flights for four on American Airlines to Colorado and a $5000 donation to the charity of the winner’s choice.
Sparky Frank Hanley won the use of the Colorado.
“I’m actually most excited about parking up my 1997 Transit and driving something new and exciting for a change,” Hanley said, shortly after collecting the large novelty key to his new truck.
The Au family collected their tickets from American Airlines flight attendants for the trip to Colorado.
Amusingly it was the Ford family — who drive a Holden — that won the charity donation. The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation the beneficiaries.
“We have a particular affinity with the breast Cancer Foundation wanted them to benefit from our own good luck,” said Ford.
On hand for the event were four-time Bathurst champion Greg Murphy, 2011 World Cup winning All Black Stephen Donald, as well as media personalities Jono Pryor, Ben Boyce and Guy Williams.
“This event was a hugely successful and incredibly fun way to do something memorable to celebrate the new Holden Colorado launch,” says Aquilina.
“It was a great way to foster community engagement and an opportunity for the families of Colorado Place to get out in the street and have some fun with their neighbours.”
