Holden rolls out tech-savvy, specced-up ‘Black’ edition

Holden New Zealand is set to release a super-limited ‘Black Edition’ Commodore.

The strictly limited run sees GM dip into its trick bag for 130 cars – 90 SV6s and just 40 V8 SS sedans.

“New Zealanders have a real affinity with new and exciting technology, and this is the first time Head-Up Display will be available in our SV6 model,” said Holden managing director Kristian Aquilina.

“Features such as this, as well as integrated Sat-Nav, are usually the domain of more expensive European models, so it’s fantastic to be able to introduce these engaging and safety orientated technologies into these vehicles.

“We’re building real value into this model which makes the new Commodore Black Edition an extremely attractive proposition.”

And attractive it is, with 18-inch rims, fender vents, grille surround, daytime running lights and lip spoiler all getting the trendy black out treatment.

Both get the latest iteration of Holden’s MyLink infotainment set-up, with full-colour touchscreen – it features full smartphone connectivity including audio streaming over Bluetooth and an enhanced voice control system.

The Black Edition will be on sale at the Holden stand Fieldays in Hamilton in a fortnight, but with only 130 cars available, and the beancounters’ pencils well-sharpened to offer the six-pot at just $51,490 and the V8 at $59,490 they’re not going to be hanging around.
