Future Audis to have downloadable application systems

Downloadable applications have revolutionised the way we use mobile phones and it’s a technology that will ultimately change the way we use our cars too. Audi’s next-generation of cars are set to lead the way and will be equipped with computer-style dashboards with touchscreen pads as well as downloadable apps similar to those on current smartphones like the Apple iPhone.

While no specific models or dates have been mentioned so far but Audi sales and marketing boss Peter Schwarzenbauer has revealed that the feature will be available within the next year or two. Customers will even be able to upgrade their cars software months after the initial purchase by downloading new programs for it.

Apparently, Audi’s future models will also be able to ‘learn’ certain traits and behavior of the daily driver, such as which destinations to select on certain days and reports on how bad the traffic is in those areas.

Audi’s upcoming A7 will be the first model to feature the new pop-out display and touchscreen pad and will likely be one of the first to be compatible with the downloadable applications system.
