Ford builds racing-inspired Focus RS Le Mans editions

Over in Europe, Ford is pulling some fancy moves to keep the Focus RS looking current before it finishes production later this year. Its latest trick is to unveil five special edition models designed to commemorate its winning history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Each of the hot hatches has a unique paint job and special alloys in a look that’s designed to replicate the liveries of old school Ford racers. While it’s easy to spot the light-blue and orange of the Gulf decorated GT 40 racers cars that famously dominated Le Mans in ’68 and ’69, more casual fans may not recognise some of the less iconic designs.

Representing other Ford Le Mans racers from the 1960’s is the black and silver of the ’66 Mark II, red and white of the ’67 Mark IV and the blue and white of the ’72 RS 2600. The Focus RS is a beastly little car and a worthy canvas for such racing history. Each model also receives special cabin extras, including Recaro racing buckets that have been stitched to match the exterior paint.

There’s no doubt the Focus Le Mans addition is a tidy piece of kit, but the chances of getting your hands on one are less than slim. Just to keep it ultra exclusive Ford is only selling the five models you see in the photo gallery below.
