New Ferrari California T launched here

Ferrari has launched it’s “everyday-use” California T in New Zealand priced from $413,888.

Ferrari Australasia president Herbert Appleroth told Stuff.Co.NZ he expects a lot of interest in the new car, which he says is more of an everyday-use kind of Ferrari, with room for car seats or golf clubs in the back.

Appleroth says that demand always outstrips supply. Ferrari has reduced its production to 7000 cars per annum to maintain the brand’s exclusivity and residual values for owners.

The Ferrari California T is powered by a 3.8-litre turbocharged V8 engine which propels the two-door convertible from standstill to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, with a maximum speed of 316km/h.

It is the first turbocharged production vehicle from Ferrari since the F40 was launched in 1987.

The car features a retractable hardtop which can be raised or lowered in 14 seconds, as well as a touchscreen inside, and it has a stop/start system which assists the lowered fuel consumption figure of 11.5L/100km.

After the official launch in Auckland, and an exclusive event for people placing first orders for the car, the demonstration vehicle was shipped back to Australia.
